Robert Smythe is founder and president of R.A.Smythe, Management Consultants. Bob brings passion, energy, and focus to all his endeavors with over thirty years industrial experience in corporate management, marketing, sales, engineering and hands on manufacturing. His extensive global experience in the USA, Japan, Europe, China and Asia gives him a broad view of world markets and trends.
At Zygo Corporation he led sales and marketing and grew sales from $20M to $60M in five years, defined tens of products for the semiconductor, photovoltaic, optical, precision engineering/ nanotechnology and data storage markets and identified and assisted in due diligence of major business acquisitions.
Robert has designed and built numerous industrial and scientific instruments, including interferometers, telescopes, spectrometers, and photometers, with operational knowledge of stylus profilers, AFM's, and optical microscopes. Manufacturing hands-on experience includes optics grinding, polishing and figuring and precision metal machining.
Robert graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Astrophysics, including graduate studies in Electrical Engineering and Optics.
